The award winning 1881 Series brings alumni owned breweries, distilleries, wineries and beverage industry leaders together through unique and exclusive events.
The 1881 Series, originally launched to feature alumni-owned breweries, brewing a unique and never been done before beer, and releasing it to fellow Huskies first. Due to popular demand, the series now has a family of spinoffs and sub-series: Uncorked for wine lovers, On the Rocks for our spirits aficionados and What's on Tap, our disucssion series which brings academics together with our beverage industry experts.
The newest iteration to the series, is our collaboration with the newly formed UConn Brewing Innovation, a direct byproduct of this series. UConn Brewing Innovation, a designed initiative with the aim of creating an ecosystem to connect the craft beer industry with UConn’s research enterprise all while providing transformative experiences for UConn students. This initiative will serve as a multidisciplinary hub, in partnership with the College of Engineering, the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources, and the School of Business, to drive three main elements; education, research, and community engagement. Look for student brewed can releases each semester as part of the 1881 Series.
Since it's inception in 2017, we have had over 4000 attendees attend this series in-person and virtually.
The 1881 Series is complete for the FY24 season.
