Time: 6:30pm - 7:30pm CT / 7:30pm - 8:30pm ET

Online - Zoom

Ever wonder what it is like to serve others? Run for local political office? Or perhaps what goes into being in local leadership of the 3rd largest city in the United States. The life of a public servant is one of self-sacrifice and countless hours educating oneself to understand the intricacies of public office and the needs of their community.

One Husky is working to make a difference while also raising a family in one of the most grueling local-level public servant roles in the country.

Join us on December 2nd as we sit down with Samantha Nugent '98 (CLAS), Alderman of the 39th Ward of Chicago, Illinois, and Dr. Mohamad Alkadry, Department Head & Professor of UConn's Department of Public Policy and dive into what it is like to be an Alderman for Chicago. We will cover everything from how the city administration is set up, the roles of an Alderman, and understanding key issues facing Chicago today as a city.

This event is sponsored by the UConn Chicago Alumni Network and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
