Work places have fewer layers of management, less rigid norms in terms of work location/work hours, increased expectations of teams dispersed over multiple time zones, and more consultants, vendors, contractors and others who are not in the traditional pyramid-shaped organizational reporting structure. Younger professionals are also increasingly held accountable for work with colleagues who may be at a higher pay band and have more experience. Getting the job done while still being seen as collaborative is critical to getting opportunities for promotion and visibility.
Primary Learning Objectives:
* The concept of “lateral leadership” and the skills that comprise it
* Gaining commitment instead of just compliance
* Building relationship capital before, during and beyond project deliverables
Target Audience: Professionals who lack formal authority over teams of people upon whom they rely to meet their work objectives.
