January is UConn Alumni career and professional development month! The UConn D.C. Network invites alumni, friends and family to an evening with John Brady, Executive Performance Coach, to learn all about how to influence in the workplace without direct authority.
Work places have fewer layers of management, less rigid norms in terms of work location/work hours, increased expectations of teams dispersed over multiple time zones, and more consultants, vendors, contractors and others who are not in the traditional pyramid-shaped organizational reporting structure. Younger professionals are also increasingly held accountable for work with colleagues who may be at a higher pay band and have more experience. Getting the job done while still being seen as collaborative is critical to getting opportunities for promotion and visibility.
Primary Learning Objectives:
* The concept of “lateral leadership” and the skills that comprise it * Gaining commitment instead of just compliance * Building relationship capital before, during and beyond project deliverables
Enjoy assorted sliders, beer, and wine. This event is free to attend. Register below by January 4th to let us know you're coming! Meet the Speaker
