Revitalizing Public Health Nutrition: Strategies for the Future Featuring Michael Puglisi, PhD, RD, Assistant Extension Profession, Nutritional Sciences, UConn
Food
insecure, as defined by Merriam-Webster: unable to consistently access or
afford adequate food.
Food
insecurity is prevalent problem across many communities in the United States.
It impacts a student’s ability to learn in the classroom, a parent or
grandparent’s capacity to provide the essentials for their family, and the
overall health of a community. Why then, do we find that participation rates in
low income nutrition programs are declining, despite the prominence of need for
this aid?
Professor
Michael Puglisi will talk about the way nutrition guidelines and education have
evolved over generations. Together we’ll explore the new initiatives that show
potential for shaping the future of nutritional assistance programs, including
strategies that target nutritional education, mindful eating and stress
reduction.
Join us for a fantastic conversation about the future of nutrition. All are welcome!
