We're headed to one of the hottest spots in the West Loop, City Winery, for an upscale evening to help connect Huskies together and enhance their careers. Once given the "Best of Award of Excellence" by Wine Spectator magazine, don't miss your chance to enjoy this wine country experience in the middle of Chicago with UConn alumni and friends near you.
The UConn Chicago Alumni Network invites you to connect and mingle Alumni Relations staff in town from UConn and to hear from John Brady, Founder and Executive Director of
Protem Partners. John will lead us in a short engaging discussion and Q&A on the topic of "Sorting out the Hype of the Intergenerational Workplace."
Light appetizers and one complimentary beer or wine will be provided. Cash bar and optional dinner on your own in our private room to follow.
Description: Hype around Millennials in the workplace has started to eclipse substance. The focus has been on younger workers and what makes them so markedly different. While Millennials do represent the largest and most powerful demographic and psychographic wave to hit the labor market since the Baby Boomers, they are still a reflection of their predecessors and as such, not as alien as they are made out to be. Moreover, you can’t understand one generation without reflecting on the others with which they interact. We will net out for each of the three primary generations in the workforce what is similar, different, and how to engage one another for everyone’s benefit. Primary Discussion Objectives: * Primary frames of reference for Millennials, Gen X, & Boomers relative to work * Relevant ways in which each generation is similar and dissimilar * How each can engage the other for mutual growth and professional success
