Exploring Race, Leadership and the Art Exhibit "Race and Revolution"

UConn's Neag School of Education invites students, alumni and community members to an interactive evening of learning and dialogue as we explore leadership and race through the provocative and informative artwork of Race and Revolution.
- How do we understand our past and how does this shape our future?
- What do you think about leadership and how does this apply to schools and businesses?
- How can disrupting dominate forms of leadership change our society?
- How are we addressing systemic racism and bias in schools and the community?
Mark Kohan, assistant clinical professor and teacher educator, Mia Hines, academic advisor, Dominique Battle-Lawson, academic advisor, and Silke Grafnitz, graduate assistant for the Human Rights Institute, will lead inquiry-based activities designed to open dialogue among participants. Together, you will explore the impact of history on ideas about leadership and race, and create opportunities to relate information gathered from the exhibit, as well as one another, to life and work across schools, businesses and communities.
About the art: Curated by Katie Fuller, friend of the Neag School, "this exhibition questions how Colonial entitlement is embedded in contemporary culture and addresses the connection between the history of how African American and Native men were - and continue to be - regarded today."
